When I first tried bringing my c60 back to life I accidentally
hit the windshield wiper switch. After sitting for five years
the wipers were gone and it scratched what I believe was a
perfectly good windshield otherwise The scratches don't seem to be too deep. Any chance in the windshield being saved ? I sure don't have $500 for a new one.... Any ideas, y'all ? If needed I could take a picture and post it here.

you can try buffing it using a buffer & jeweler's rouge.

Just don't spend too much time in one spot. It's possible to create optic areas that will look like a fun house mirror when you look through it.

Troy,like Tiny has already said buff a wider area than the scratches to avoid distortion,a bit like 'feathering' the edges of scratches in paintwork and try not to generate too much heat in one spot.

If you can feel the scratches with your fingernail you might not totally get rid of them.

Eastwood sells a scratched glass repair kit. comes with different grit pads and rouge for buffing, and complete instructions. I've used it before with good success. Just important to go slow.
