You are way ahead of most people who restore one. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 78 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 78 | I have to agree with the previous poster, it looks darn good for its age! Very cool project. I am working on a '46 2-ton that is about equal at this point. This site has been so helpful to me, and you will find so much ready assistance. There are great guys here. You'll get advice, and tips on every aspect of your project. Welcome. If you need any assistance in telling the story of your find and getting this in the Gallery let me know, I am here to help you. The man we bought it from had the history of the truck and it was indeed parked inside quite alot of its life. Can anyone tell me if the motor looks original? from the grime i'm cleaning off it and the tranny area, it would seem to be the original 207? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,236 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,236 | 35chevtruck, The engine looks correct to me. Get the serial number off of the machined pad next to the distributer on the passenger side and I'll confirm it for you. A quick visual difference between the 1935 and 1936 207 engine is the 1935 has the cylinders exposed on the drivers side below the manifolds where the 1936 is flat with a few raised vertical ribs (they made the water jacket around the cylinders larger for 1936). If your truck is a 1935 the hood will have 4-vertical louvers on the side where 1936 has 2-horizontal louvers. Chassis serial number will be marked "QB" indicating it's a 1935. It looks to me that it may have been a goverment issue truck having the longer wind shield arms and the spair tire option. Keep adding pictures. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 186 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 186 | Can someone tell me what the hole was for in the cowl? My 36 cab had that same hole, was it for the spare tire to mount to?? http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m633/pcidgy/IMG_8579a.jpg

I'd say yes, it was for the spare tire since that sides fender has the formed part that the wheel would fit in. Cheers, Gards. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 20 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 20 | Thanks to Mike B for all the info he supplied about the engine! Learned that the engine is a 1935 and that the truck was one of the last built in Tarrytown. Thanks Mike! | | |
