Hello,
Have a 37 1/2 ton all original with 3sp floor shift trans. Have problems getting into 2nd and 3ed. Mostly 2nd. 1st and rev are ok. Does not wine, clutch is ok. Just hard to hit 2nd, sometimes it wont even go into or have to grind it into 2nd and 3eds alot easiler to deal with but is problem matic at times. I love my old truck and drive it daily back and forth to town etc. Have stopped driving it about a week ago. Whats the best way for me to pull this tranny out of the truck. Never messed with a torque tube before. And where can I get parts for the tranny??? Know a older gent that can help with the torque tube but my main concern is locating. Any help and reading material or web sites would be very helpful. Miss driving my old truck.
My email is 1947ohv@gmail.com
Many Thanks and what a great site

Are you sure it is not the shifter. Do you have lots of travel when you shift. There is a bushing kit that will fix a worn shifter. I have one that I got because I needed the spring not the bushing. You can have it (free) if you want to try that before removing your trans. Jim Carter has them on page 68.

Hello Shop Shark. Yes I do have alot of travel in the shifter. You can send me the parts w/ instructions to install(if you have them)and I will pay you shipping++ You can send them to Mark Dowis, 261 Brasstown rd, Westminster, S.C. 29693.
Really enjoyed looking at your pictures. Please send me a email to my email address. I have a # of questions I would like to ask. My 37 is all original and sit in a dealers show room from 1960 till 2005.The original owner, a framer in W.VA. bought it from the Dealer in 37 then traded it in for a later# truck in 1960. Was repainted but never restored by the dealer.
Thanku much

Hello to Shop Shark,
Thanku much. Seems we live in the same state. On your rebuild did you go thru the transmission? Is Jimmy Carter the best place to get parts for it? Did you rebuild your Mtr or just pulled it out and did a repaint? I am thinking about pulling the head on mine and rebuilding the head. She smokes a little when you first crank her. Thanks again Guy and lets stay in touch. If you are ever up my way please stop by and visit.

I did not have to do a rebuild, motor ran good, just replaced all the seals and inspected everything, pull the oil pan, looked up in the motor and checked timing gears. Chevs of the 40s has a good catalog and also good break down pages that look to have come from the Master Parts Catalog and they have plenty of parts. They have always beet super fast at shipping anything I have ordered.
I put a CD in with the bushing I sent you. It is a copy of the parts break down that covers 37's, it will come in handy for you.

Got your package today. Many Thanks. Will call chevy of the 40s for a catalog. Also doing a search for 37 chevy transmission parts, came up with a web site(Vintage uto Parts) that seems to have aloy of trany parts. Plan to call them also. Thanks for all your time with the pictures of your restoration of your 37. You put alot of work injto her. I need to upload some pictures of my 37 onto the stovebolt site. The 47 thats on the site was sold about 2 yrs ago. A fellow from New York state bought her.
