So my original Harrison heater core blew on the way to the car show this Saturday. I have the core that has the Ronco heater valve that bolts to the core. I had to buy a core from Napa that had the same measurements 9 1/2" x 6 3/8" x 2 1/2" and have it cut and resodered to my original core. My original valve still works, but I would like to have it rebuilt as no one sells an aftermarket core or vale and the original valves are an arm and a leg when they rarely pop up on ebay. Does anybody know someone who rebuilds the valves?

I have been looking for that exact same info myself. My C20 still has the original valve and heater core. I am going to try rebuilding the valve myself, but if you find a place that does it let me know as well. I have another valve as a backup in case I fail.

Yeah, evidently you'd think they were made of gold for as rare as they are. No one has parts for them, and some people have never heard of them. I dont even have a backup, but the one I have works. I wouldn't mind getting one though. Classic parts has a replacement valve for it, but I havent ordered it because I haven't figured out how it goes in. I have figured out an o-ring that works good between the valve and the core though.

Hey bear63, Napa sold me a core for $53 which was $40 chaeper than the catalogs distributers on their core cost. I had to get the 60-66 core which has the same measurements. Ill post the Napa part # tomorrow in case anybody else might need one.

You have me a bit perplexed... You said Classic has a replacement valve... Do you mean the seal? If that's what you mean, you can get that seal at Napa considerably cheaper. I had the ol' boys at my local Napa order it and it was like $4. That's what made me decide to try and rebuild the valve myself. I figure all I will be out if I fail is my time and $4.

Delete the factory valve & install an in-line valve that's cable operated so you can still use the factory control box.

That would work but the whole point for me is to preserve the original valve setup. It was still on the truck and you don't see them anymore so it will be a one-off.

I thoughts agree w/Bears63. The external control valve was going to be my last resort idea(plan B). The cores can be recored and it seems that the guy at heatercontrolvalve.com onlyworks on older Ranco control valves. He does nice work by the pics

Would like to bring this old post back to top. Can someone describe the process to attach the Ronco heater control valve to the heater core? 62 suburban with deluxe heater.
