Has anybody successfully used the Steele Rubber door weatherstrip on a 41-46 cab? It ain't workin for me.

I'm trying to install the door weatherstrip material I got from Steele Rubber. I've taped the strip in place and tried to close the (passenger side) door, I can get the first click but no way can I shut the door completely. I've got the same profile I've seen pictures of in other posts for 47 and later models. At first I had the profile turned 90deg incorrectly but fixing that issue made no difference.

I noticed some short strips I taped on to temporarily stop the doors from rattling compressed to nearly half the thickness as in the free position. When left free again, they returned completely back to the same original height. Neat stuff I thought. So I taped it back in place and tied the door closed. Even rigged a Spanish Windlass (had to look that term up) and cinched it down tight and let it sit overnight, hoping it would compress and by morning I could latch my door. No such luck. When trying to get it to shut, the door is sticking out about 1/2".

If anybody's made this stuff work, let me know how please. Or if you have used something else (besides just the interior windlace as original)tell me what you used. I hate to give up because I feel like I'm close and I see the design as much superior to just the old windlace.

I only installed the interior windlace. I had it recovered to match the interior. It seals pretty tight on its' own. I don't have any wind noise or leaking issues. Looking at the detail from Steeles, that is a pretty big bulb to compress !

Looked at your albums. First of all, think I've said this before - just love that truck. Beautiful. So the only thing keeping the wind out is the round bulb seal ? What did you use to seal the bottom - the lip seal profile they sent in my kit ? (kind of a weird shaped "C"). I'm also slightly concerned about the many openings in the door frame outboard of your windlace that would be subject to water leaks, did you attempt to seal those? Is yours ever driven in he rain? Mine is a daily driver so I really would like to have a dry cab and carpet.

Bottom seal is the C mentioned. My door panels have a little bit of foam under the upholstery ( 1/8" ). Seal leaves an indent on the door, so it seems to be sealing OK. Must admit my truck hasn't seen a whole lot of rain - been caught in a few squalls but definitely not hours of exposure. She seems tight / no leaks when washing or light rain.
