The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Factory rebuild manual?

I might be wrong here, but I'm guessing I might be rebuilding the 216 in the 51 3100 I'm going to give my dad at the end of August (see my other posts here...) I did a search and read about a factory rebuild manual as well as standard factory manual. When I was a young pup, I used the good 'ol Chilton's manuals which I can't seem to find anymore. Can I get the rebuild manual from Brother's or whoever as well as the factory manual? If not, where? And, lastly, are there other options to the above listed manuals, such as: "Step by Step for the Complete Idiot who's only ever rebuilt small block chevy's all his life"?
In addition, I want to add that the "transporter" (and I use the term loosely) who told me he was going to trailer my truck to me, actually dollied it the 750 miles to me and now the trans seals leak as does the rear end so I'll need lots of info to address these problems, too since I've never worked on a "closed" driveline (please refer to the book I referred to for the "small block chevy" guy... )

The shop manual, a genuine GM or authorised reprint, will have all of the info you need. A factory assembly manual, which was used at the factories for assembly instructions, comes in very handy, too. Especially with body related items. The factory shop manuals are dealer grade, and go much deeper than the Chilton manuals do.
And, of course, there's always all of us here if you get really stuck.
