In the midst of restoring my grandfathers '48 I've replaced almost every wear item on the rear suspension (it's a well-used farm truck). During the final going over I noticed the Rear Spring Seat section in the shop manual http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1948_51truck/51ctsm0461.htm

My bushings are starting to break up with age but it doesn't seem like anyone sells replacements. Does anyone know where to buy new rubber bushings or if there's a substitute part lurking out there?

Did you look at LMC? They have pretty much everything you'd need to build the truck from scratch. For a hard to find part thats where I'd go.

I have some NOS steel bushings. $3 each. Let me know the size (width) and if it has a hole in the center or not. Send and email to [email protected] with an address and I'll get a ship cost.

Here is a possible source. Axle/Spring Mount Bushing . According to the Master Parts book, they used the same U bolts here for Pass from 38 to 53 and all 1/2 Ton from 47 to 53. I am guessing that maybe the bushings were the same. I am interested in this search too for my 38 Master.
