I was thinking about adding a oil filter to my motor....I have noticed on other guys pictures that some use the beehive or alternate set up....I have a 235 out of a 57..

Next question good place to buy one.

napa makes a remote oil filter kit...use the search feature..the kit number is listed..

Just a suggestion.....I'd check my oil pressure on your 57 engine before you add the by-pass filter system. I found that the bypass system bled of 5-7 psi of oil pressure and it didn't seem feasible to divert pressure from the mains to pump 10-15% of the oil through a 1950's technology filter. Granted, the 235's don't make/need a tremendous amount of oil pressure but if an engine was in the latter stages of it's life, the extra 5-7 psi might be needed. Changing oil at 2000-3000k seems easier than changing out a set of engine bearings.

If you're running good oil pressure without the filter and can afford the accompanying pressure drop, you could add it on. Your call!!!

I recently bought a rebuilt 235...it has great oil pressure....so then maybe I will just change the oil 2-3 thousands miles instead of adding a filter....less work

There's your answer Change the oil every 2000 miles and use shells rottella oil as discussed here before it seems to work!!!!!!!

if you use the NAPA filter adapter, and the correct restricted flow filter, you can have a spin on oil filter and maintain good oil pressure in your 235.

Then change your oil every 2000 miles.
