old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! The sterio is gone and I can not find an antenna, the hole, or the stub for one on the fenders or anywhere else on the truck. Where would I look for this stub? Did you just wrap a coat hanger around the radio and mirror? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | "stereo"?? seriously? do you see 2 speakers in the truck? do you think a farmer would spend an extra $63 for an optional radio in his work truck? do you really think an antenna would have been standard equipment in '55? See photobucket pics. Sorry in advance if the link does not work. On my end, it took me to my photobucket album and the dash pic is the first one on the album. I am thinking of getting an antenna with its base and installing it on the truck. Should I put it on the headache rack, the fender, the end of the front bumper, or somewhere else? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 171 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 171 | The original antenna mounted on the passenger's side{right] fender, I have an original installation instruction, I believe if you buy a good reproduction antenna it with have the instructions and a templet, the original speaker was mounted in a box above the windshield between the sun visors, the speaker wire was run down the inside windshield post, under the dash to the radio | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 194 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 194 | Very helpful! I can't find them! | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Here's a pic of the speaker location. You might be able to tell in the pic that there are 2 speakers in the housing. Factory would only have a single speaker.

I thought you meant inside the visors, not between them, but I sppreciate all the help! There is no limitation or any technical reason why a speaker can't be located in many other locations in the cab. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 194 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 194 | I went and looked at the truck today, and there was a speaker between the visors! You know what they say though, people seldom look up! I guess the radio broke and the previos owner took out the radio and was not able to get around to putting in the new one. I guess I just didn't see the hole for the antenna on the fender. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
