A beautiful day in TN. Cleaned bugs off of bumpers, grill and windshield! Went to a local show today and a cruise in this evening. Just a fun day!

That's funny - we used a caravan seat too! Used the second row seat though and it really does work good.

Yesterday - Saturday - was a fine day in Sweden, too. I drove to the local horse riding locale and loaded up on fertilizer. Hauled it home and donated it to the rhubarb and the roses, they sure are happy. The truck seems perfectly at ease hauling manure, almost like it has done so before. Good thing the bed isn't fixed up all pretty.

I made brackets to hold the spare on the side. I’ll do the same on the driver’s side. Hopefully the driver’s side rear fender arrives today and I can mount it up tonight. If not I’ll be working on the front bumper assembly.

After breaking the speedometer pointer stem trying to replace the pointer, my cry for help was heard by fellow Bolter tomctomc and he answered my call.
I received the speedo segment yesterday and completed the assembly of my speedometer... looks almost like new! grin

Finally painted my cab 3 days ago. Now wet sanding with 1500, followed by 2000 grit paper to smooth out slight orange peel, then polish w/buffer.

Decided to install a new sending unit on the tank - and guess what? Was not even close to matching the tapped holes in the tank when float was "clocked" to proper position. Had to take my die grinder and slot 3 holes. I hate doin' that to a new unit I paid good money for. Then discovered unit is not grounded now because of the TankRenu coating, so gauge reads "full" with no gas in tank. Will run a separate ground wire from sending unit flange to seat riser tomorrow. Hope to get the fuel system finished and tested this weekend.

Wrapped up the complete huck brake and OE steering redo. Can actually name the 2 items left! Drill bolts for cotter pins on the front backing plates and enlarge the lug holes in the remanufactured rear drums to accomodate the new 1/2" studs. Tommorrow I drill and install set screws and build a bracket for the modified steering column and frame and drive train will be complete!
Hope to complete the photo archive on these projects in the next week.

I drove the 30 for the first time today. The truck handled really well. I need to do a front end alignment on it but other than that everything went well. A few weeks ago friend do mine gave me the wood fro the bed of my 54 and I got it cut to size today as well.

Still disassembling components throughout the body of my '59 half ton, and still trying to decided what to keep and what to replace at this stage.
Are we having fun yet?

Took the oil pan off for the first time to see if the recently discovered broken fuel pump arm was there, no arm! Previous owner used a broken fuel pump to cover the hole to use an electric pump. After cleaning the pan I decided to go ahead and give it a paint job since it'll be on there for a while. Slapped a new gasket on and filled her with oil. Next step is figuring out how to free up the exhaust valve counter weight. Plenty of rust.

Today, Oct. 12, 2011, I got my new 1946 2-ton Chevy truck from Loma, CO, as far as a farm in Payette, ID, on its way, tomorrow, to my place in Portland, OR. All with the help of a guy who is not my brother-in-law, but close. It is a project big enough to keep me out of trouble for the next year, at least. Anyone who has brought a similar truck to fruition is welcome to contact me. I will have many questions and I would love to assemble a "kitchen cabinet," so to speak for when questions arise. Again, thanks Mark

I found a '58 half-ton stepside donor for my '59 project.
The '58 has been in the woods for almost 30 years and there's not much sheet metal left.
I paid 300 for the truck. It has the 235, radiator, starter, tranny, wheels +2, glass... you get my drift.
After I glean averything I want and sell a few extras, I'm thinking I can recoup my original money by scrapping the rest.
Honey... Look what followed me home! eeeek

The 6400 has been home for 48 hours. I spent at least
8 of those clearing very very nasty rodent "offerings" out of the interior. I have removed most all of the interior
sheet metal to get every last bit. Darn those folks who leave the battery door off of the floor. Anyway, I am feeling pretty good that I can now spray bleach and Lysol and whatever into the cracks and crevices to soak in before I get after the rust. This included gas tank removal, seat striping to the springs, valance, etc. God didn't invent "workaholics" for nothing!

Redid brake shoes on 49 GMC. Aired up tires, getting it ready to trailer it home for rework. Will not be frame up restoration but rather mild 228 update, get all mechanicals working then this summer paint??
