I had a value job done on my 1941 228 GMc. Got it re timed, and valves adjusted, and it starts up fine. The oil pressure shows 40 lbs after start up. Problem is I get no oil into the upper end. I have taken off the rockers again and re-cleaned and cleared all passage ways . I have not yet re-installed it. Upon taking off the rockers I noticed that the oil inlet in the top of the head, underneath the the first rocker stand is one half inch in diameter, but the top one sixteeneth is probably 5/8. Is there is spacer that belongs here? I have been running two quarts of marvel in the engine during this process, I have not had the engine under any stress. Does anyone have suggestion? I do not think I need to replaced the oil pump if I am reading 40 lbs. Thanks

Did you have oil on the top end before the head was worked done?

While the head is off I'd spin the pump with a drill motor and cut-off screwdriver, see if oil is getting through to the top of the block. If so take a look at the head gasket, is it the right one, does it have a hole in the right spot to allow oil into the top end? If all that checks out start looking for an obstruction in the head/rocker assembly.

The head is already on. I have not put the rocker shaft back on yet. Shouldn't I be able to shoot air back thur the head oil inlet to the pump to be sure the head gasket is right? Guess I should reattach the rocker shaft, adjust valves and see what happens before I take off the head? Thanks
