So of course now I got some questions gentlemen ;-P

I started sand blastin' the frame, bit by bit with a puny little blaster gun I got from harbor freight *rolls eyes* (which broke in half yesterday).. I found a bunch of cancer eating through the low rear driver's side corner of my cab!! made the rest of my day pretty sad.

Primed frame

Get rid of the orange!!!

Can you guess whats new? ;-P

1. My front drivers tire has been going flat every week, sometimes faster than others. After a fill up yesterday it was consistantly leaking air from the valve stem inside the rim. I put a bungee chord on it because pressure upwards stops the leak... am I gonna have to replace the tube?

air stem

2. I took the gas tank out in preparation for paint.. Is there a plug or something for this hole?

3. Are these brake parts sold reliably at auto parts stores?
Along with this?

I had to cut one of the hinge bolts out *face palm*... I think in past body work someone damage the bolt INSIDE, so backing it out was impossible
took out the torch

4. Trying to get a lot of grime off for paint, you think I could take the sand blaster to areas like this?
What areas should I stay away from with the blaster?

5. Ever seen these lights before?

other light

6. Want to take my one mirror off for paint prep... the bottom one is stuck and previously it had been stripped enough to not catch grip... how should I handle it? :-S

I can tell you guys how much of an encouragement it is knowing that there's a plethora of knowledge just a mouse click away... thank you so much, I ust wish I was more knowledgeable and could help around the forum myself :-(

Steamylc,

None of you links worked for me.

As for the flat tire, you can have the tube patched if it really has a hole. Did you confirm the actual valve stem is holding air and not the problem? The air you hear at the valve stem could be air bleeding out from the open space between the tube and the rim...when you refill the tube the air between the rim and tube has to escape somewhere.

If it were mine I'd take it to a truck tire shop and have them fix it...

Looks like some good progress.

I would avoid sandblasting anywhere that trapped sand could cause a problem. If you are not going to disassemble the steering I would probably stay away, you do not want any chance of sand getting in there.

I have seen cab lights similar...if not the same as yours before. They are a good looking light. If you are looking for replacements start regularly watching Ebay or check out one of the vintage light websites online.

You should be able to get to the back side of your mirror bolt if the weld-nut on the back has broken free of the door so you can hold it. If the threads are indeed stripped then I suppose you may have to drill the screw head off to remove it...perhaps by turning it in through the door after the head is off, or by applying pressure outwards from the inside so the good threads can catch the nut. You'll have to take off your interior panel to reach the back, but it should be accessible.

You'll have to disassemble the tire to figure out where and why it is leaking. The tube may just need a patch....I believe there are(or were anyway) replacement valve stems you could patch onto the tube. Unless you figure out exactly where it is leaking from it is hard to tell what fix will be needed.

Don't see any PB Blaster dripping from your mirror. Loosening up bolts, nuts, and screws with Blaster, or something similar, may enable them to come loose when they otherwise would strip or break.

The hole in your floorpan by the gas tank should have a grommet and gasket assembly. They are easily available from places like Classic Parts or LMC Truck. As for the brake parts, they are still available, but take your old ones in. Then hope that you have a knowledgeable person behind the counter that can use the "bible" antique catalogues. Took me 3 times to get mine, but finally found the right parts, work great.
