It does need a clearcoat, as it doesn't have much shine without, plus the extra UV protection is a bonus. They do make a Matte finish clear if you're looking for a flat finish.

I understand everyone has an opinion, but it makes me rethink my thoughts on paints...i always favored lacquer paints. Since the EPA screwed up everything..(especially in California) solvents suck now. We can't even get Real B12 Chemtool....they have a "California version now" same with many other solvent cleaners too...
