This is my 1949 3800 series flat bed. I found the truck a few months ago on Craigslist in Wichita, Kansas. I made the drive all the way from Houston,Tx,to get it. It is rough and rusty, but I love it. It has a 1955 235 engine in it that is getting pretty tired and the front axle has a lot of slop in it. I plan on restoring it mechanically a.s.a.p., but I would like to leave the body nasty for a bit. So far, all that I've done to it is give it a good cleaning, installed 4 original hubcaps, and I removed the one ton pickup running boards so that I can install the short running boards that a flat bed should have.I'm an artist specializing in aviation related art, so this truck is getting a lot of use picking up old junk airplane parts.

Congratulations on the truck! And you even got a hoist! You'll appreciate that more than once.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

I'm getting rid of the hoist asap. It works great, but I could use the 6" lower loading height a lot more than I can use a dump bed. I hope to find some old stake racks for it. I will probably have to just make some out of wood. I like flatbeds, but I don't want stuff sliding off the sides every time I turn, so the sooner I can make it into a stake bed the better.
