I am replacing the rear wheel bearings in my 63 C10. My friend was too heavy handed in using his slide hammer to extract the old bearings and seals. Both wheel bearing retainers were bent and knicked badly. So much, I don't think they are usable.

Does anyone have a source for these retainers. They do not come with the replacement bearing and are not a part that is stocked by any of the parts houses.

I have tried junkyard dog and other places, but none available or no response.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I cant place what you mean by retainers. Do yoy have the type with the C washers in the rear end or are the bearings pressed on the axle?

C-clips hold the axles in. The wheel bearing retainer is a machine bushing....2.53 OD; 1.625 ID and 16 ga thick that goes behind the bearing.

I gotcha now. It seems it is a spacer. You ought to be able to straighten them & grind out the nicks.
Lets see what some of the other bolters think.

Thought I would close this out. Best thing to do would be to use a press to straighten the retainer and then grind out any burrs. But one of the retainers was lost. I used some standard machine bushings, 2.5 in OD x 1.75 in ID x 14 ga. Was a little smaller OD (0.03 in) and larger diameter hole (1/8 in) and a little thicker (14 ga vs 16 ga). But the axles and c-clips, bearings and seals all went in just fine. The bushing has enough lip to grab when removing the bearing next time, so all is fine. Thanks
