I have a Rochester single barrel on my 235 swap. I was able to get the throttle linkage installed properly as it is not too complicated, but now i have a cable for the choke that needs to be installed, and also a cable for the throttle (to be able to control idle and cruise control from inside the car) that needs to be installed. The top butterfly i know is for the choke. you have this long piece in the center of the outside of the Carb that does move but requires effort, and then the bottom butterfly actually controls the throttle.... this is all I know. How do I get the choke and throttle cables connected to this carb (see picture links below) Dan http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r97/BG528/HPIM0396.jpghttp://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r97/BG528/HPIM0395.jpg

What exactly the throttle cable was there for has been debated many times. True, earlier than about 1950 the carburetors didn't have a fast idle cam so you could use the throttle during warm up in cold weather and another guess that often pops up is that the throttle was used in the field with the trucks in low gear for one man hay baling. I'm assuming that the long piece on the outside that you referred to is the fast idle link. The bracket should be located on the engine side of the carburetor. The throttle cable comes down vertically the choke is the horizontal one. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/130835672/large The throttle cable wire goes down thru the throttle link and has a brass stop screwed on the end. The hole in the throttle link slides on the cable during normal operation. A very simple but half arsed setup but it worked for millions of vehicles for millions of miles for many decades, so it’s hard to argue with success. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

If anyone has any closeups with the linkage on that would probably make it even easier. If not I will likely figure it out with the information given, Thanks to Denny.
Also, does anybody have any information about this carb... or is there anything I should know about it?
Thanks,
Dan
