My father accidently charged my 6 volt system with 12 volts for 5 hours or so.

The truck started fine before but does not want to start now. It turns over, has a spark but won't go.

What damage could 12 volts have done to my 6 volt system?

It's time to have a dedicated 6 volt charger for my truck to avoid this happening again.

Got it started after doing some checks. The 6 volt battery was sitting at 7.2 volts. Put some load on it just to bring it down to 6.25 volts and it fired up after a few tries. Everything seems to work fine, still haven't heard if the old man's charger faired as well.

Also removed the 6v/12v switch from my battery tender/charger.

I would check the fluid level in the battery.
