Does anybody know if a 63 step side bed will fit a 58? Mar-k part number for the tailgate is the same. Thanks for looking...

the step bed is the same 55-66, might have to redrill cross sills to suit the holes in your frame

Bill, why do the catalogs list a p/n change for the bed sides and head panel between the 55-59 and the 60-66? is there a subtle difference? the fenders, steps, and tailgate all come back the same for the entire 55-66 span. I am looking at picking up a complete 62 bed for my 56, but am concerned (perhaps irrationally) about authenticity.

no idea Tom, if fenders and steps are the same, how different could the sides be? the only possible difference would be in the embossed stiffening patterns and I doubt anyone would see that ..... I put a 60's bed on a 57 and it fit fine except for one pair of frame mount holes

Front panel is different because the wood boards are different width. Bedside angle strips have a different hole pattern, placing the cross sills in different spots. Don't forget that 62 bed is made to fit a much wider frame spacing than your 56. http://www.mar-k.com/bed_side_interchange_gm.html All your mounting points will be off. Also, the 62 bed sits about an inch higher than the 56. You will have to make some adjustments to get it to fit right and look 'authentic'.

I did the same swap (bed from a 62' onto a 55') everything is the same except for the rear cross member. On the 62' it is a taller piece, I just swithched the cross member out and it was perfect. Good luck on your project.
