I recently purchased a 1959 Apache, with a 235. I found the following casting numbers on the head/block:
Head: 3836848 GM 4
Block: 3837004 GM 12
Stamped between Dizzy and Starter: 0I47523F56X
I believe this means I have a 1956 235 in my 1959 truck.
My question is, I want to replace the leaking Rochester with a Carter. According to a chart I found on this site, for the 1956 I should use a 2100S, but the 1959 truck should use a 3211S. Does anyone know the difference between the carbs, or which I should use?

It a good upgrade to the system. One note. When I ordered my remanufactured carb I had to give them the old carb as a core. When I got ready to mount it, it didn't have the cable attachments. Much to my dismay, if you find the brackets they don't come cheap. So my advice is do the swap, but keep everything you can off the old carb. As a side. From what I have read here shop around for your new carb. I ordered my Carter YF2100s from NAPA and it cost me 450 bucks. I'm going to pick it up, and see what happens. Now I just have to decide whether to build a choke stove and use the auto heat choke, or try to modify it into a manual choke. How much was the Rochester core? Sorry Jimmie, but.... a brand new in the box NOS Carter is half that price and sometimes even less. Yes, always keep the choke/throttle bracket.
