Here's a picture of the rear axle. The poor man's lowering job by the PO. They put the axle on top of the springs and put 14" donut tires in back. No C-notch, so I'm going to flip it back where it belongs.

You can see by the picture, all is rusty. How much is too much. I'm lost with where to begin. Can you take parts to have them blasted or is that a big (too much) expense.

What I see is just surface rust and of no importance except looks.
You decide what kind of ride it will be. If you want it to be a quality look you might want to have it blasted to remove not just the rust on the running gear but the sheet metal. Then you'll see just what you have and how much meaningful rust is there.

That doesn't look bad at all! Take a wire wheel to it and you'll see that it is just lightly pitted. Take a look at my running gear before and after. It was worse than yours and it is perfectly fine today.

I wire wheeled everything, but blasting would have been much easier! Sprayed epoxy primer then Chassis Black topcoat.

Older post but I was in the same position as you, just take your time and run through it one section at a time...I wire wheeled it all also..Por15 Then hardnose paint...
