The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Rocker Panels or Floor First??

I just brought back my 60 Apache 10 that my cousins kids knocked all the windows out of. It has sat for 20+ years in harsh Iowa weather while I was in the military. Anyway to the point the rocker panels floor etc are pretty much shot and will need to be replaced. Which should be first. Also who has the best repair panels and does anyone make a complete floor replacement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used LMC ( LMC Truck ) for most of my patch panels as their catalog shows the part as it is found on the truck.
I have heard that Bitchin Products ( Bitchin Products ) has the best quality US built products as oposed to the rest made in China.

Depending on the condition of the lower door pillars, if those areas are still solid, sometimes it is easier to replace the rocker first, with doors attached, so you can maintain/verify correct door gaps and arrangement as you install the rocker. Then, as you remove the floor sections, the door openings will have the strength of a "picture frame effect" to more readily keep things from getting out of place. Disclaimer: Bracing as needed may still be required.

thank you for your response. The doors have been removed already will this affect replacing the rocker panels first? The right side is pretty much rusted through and just hanging on the left side is rusted out but still attached.

You probably need to insure the cab is still squared up and then weld some brackets in the doorways, and any other place you think is needed, to keep it square.
