Please do not shoot its only a question Jianis | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,837 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,837 | I drove a 164 sedan with a fuel injected B30 engine in it for quite a while. It was a very reliable engine, with plenty of power. If the complete package with the 4-speed and Laycock overdrive was used, it would be an interesting conversion. Since the OD works on 3rd. and 4th. gear you would have the equivalent of a 6-speed transmission. The early Jetronic fuel injection was a royal PITA, so the version with the dual side draft carbs would probably be less of a hassle to tune. Jerry

I am familiar with the smaller brother of the B30 the B18 of my Volvo Amazon. For the last 25 years it never let me down. Big Chevy (Jim?) VW engines are really fuel efficient. My daily driver is a small VW with a petrol engine and with normal driving its getting about 40 mpg. The in line6 D24T diesel should be a good engine for a daily driver bolt but its too complicated and noisy. Last month I was able to get 48 mph on a 225 mile trip from Dallas to San Antonio. I set the cruise and stayed at 65 mph and 2000 rpm. I also have had it at 125 mph and it was still pulling toward 140. I lost my nerve...
