This is 4 inches less than the original axle. There is no room for the shocks which should be on the outside of the springs, because the wheels/tires overlap the axle by 2 inches. I was thinking of changing the wheels to 15x8 with 2.5 inch backspacing. This would be a -63mm offset. Or, should I use 2” wheel spacers? The tires are P255/70R15.

Spacers can be hazardous if not instaled right. I agree with that. If you must use spacers, get the kind that bolt on to the flange, and have a second set of studs for the wheels to mount to.
