Read Deve's Antique Chevy Truck article on lifter adjustment for my 235 by Nathan Hall. During my rebuild hydraulic lifters came out and new went in. The article said the 235 engine design is not good for hyd. lifters. Should I have gone with solid?

Get ready for many opinions!
I love them and put them in every engine that is drilled for them.

I think they are super, only problem now is that quality ones apparently do not exist today per Patrick's. Also NOS GM hyd lifters get big bucks on ebay. There has been lots of discussion in The 12 Port News over the years re. problem solving and there can be problems. I'd give a call to Tom Landon on this as he'd be the best one to advise you. www.stoveboltengineco.com

Best of luck

I have had no problem with offshore lifters as long as I cut a slot across the bottom face of the push-rod like Chev did on there 1950-53 push-rods. This allows any air to escape the lifter which causes most of there problems.
Here is a PICTURE of a 1950-52 push-rod.

My engine is a 1956. It is in my '49 pickup. I don't know if it came out of a car or truck.

SPL check the Engine Casting # first pic, this can tell you what type engine you have... The block date-casting code and engine serial number ( second and third pic ) are helpful for identification too...
