For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2010 Posts: 10 | Greetings all! I need a bit of advice since I am not familiar with these. I have located a '53 burb that is in not the best shape with some broken glass and bullet holes in the roof. Obviously, some redneck must have gotten bored shooting stop signs, and used this for practice. It doesn't have a title, as the original has been long deceased. The asking price is $200.00, but that was negotiable. Everything is there, plus extra parts. Is this a good deal? I know it would be plenty of work, but it could be awesome. Let me know what you think. How much is your time worth? If it has the seats, either all three rows or just the front/jump seats you will probably recover your investment. The rear window trim if it is not all rusty or missing, you will get our money back etc. Post some pictures. Use this list to help you in deciding what you want to do with it. It does have both taillights located in the center of the rear doors. Looks like it could be fun to rebuild, that is, if I get it. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 | Check out the list and take it with you. The price is right if you have the means to tow it , store it and fix it. It may just be a good source for parts and that's ok too if you have the means to handle it. A good suburban ranges from around $3000 up depending on condition and location. If it's been sitting for a while, it may have lot's of rust and missing some key parts. Haul it home, check it out and decide how much fun you really want to have! Most likely, you can turn this around for $1000 or more. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 482 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 482 | My experience with Colorado is that while it snows there, the climate is pretty dry. Still, rust is a bear to fix expecially if you're a novice. Don't know what the rules are in Colorado but it could be a problem if you don't source a title of some kind. That is, if you plan to work on it with the eventual goal of actually driving on the street. | | |
