How's your back...
BTW that's the best video we've had here on the bolt. A 5 window 3600, must be rare.

Planning is everything. I had two nephews lift my cab off for me similar to what you just did.
When it was time to put the cab back on.....no nephews!!!

I had to put the cab back on myself....with a floor jack.

Fun times ahead

It's a 3800 (well 1404 Canook version)

With 4 guys, it really wasn't bad. Two of us has lifted it the day before but with the shuffling down the length of it, opted to use 4.

I must say, I think in this whole teardown, I've had maybe 7 or 8 broken fasteners - mostly small screws. Looking forward now to pulling the 216 and blasting this frame.

Agreed - I made sure everything was ready to go. I'm the kind of guy who wants to do the whole job himself - so I only try to call on help when it's beyond my lifting capabilities! I've also seen video's on here of guys removing them with hoists, a few others building lifts etc - but I opted for speed! smile

My first glance at the bell housing has me puzzled - I'll have to do a bit of reading to understand how its attached to the engine - from first glance it looks like its bolted from the INSIDE of the bell housing to the block... at any rate, I have a few pounds of grease and dirt to scrape off first!

I found another speedo drive gear, pressed the old one off, pressed the new one on, installed everything, put the tranny back in, torque tube back, cross member..., put the correct fan on. Put the rad back in, filled the coolant. After all that, I hopped in, started it....oops, no stick shifter, get that in, went for a road test. First legal road test ever for me in that rig, woo hoo!

Congrats Leo. That first ride has to be special.

For me I had to adjust the rear doors on my panel. They would come open when I take off. I cut a cork gasket to raise the "strikers" a little bit and also adjust the rods all I could. At least they stay closed now until you pull the hole down.

On the 37 I jacked it up to start pulling the rearend. Last Friday night I was coming home and had a need for speed at a stop sign. Man, it sounded like I made cheerios out of the spider gears but it turned out a bottom bolt came out of the shock. A new bolt, some loctite and I'm back in business. YOu talk about a relief, whew, man, I've been happy all day smile

... passenger side door latch on the 37 has been hard for my "little short wife" to open so I pulled it out tonight and got it working nice and slick after I took it apart and cleaned and greased it up.

Also put a "final" bled on the panel's brakee. Hope to get it to the front end shop after I get off work tomorrow.

I installed the lower door seal. Worked a bit on finishing the bed after the paint touch-up and discovered the 6" SS carriage bolts that go in each rear corner were a bit too short. I ordered two from The Bolt Depot.

Took her out for a spin today. Four blocks down, four blocks back.

Doesn't seem like much, but it's taken me 14 months to get her back on the road after grenading the transmission. Most of the down-time was spent searching for another suitable 3spd. I scoured eBay, Craigslist, swapmeets and repair shops.

I had one shop tell me that they could rebuild what I had so I left it with them. six months later they still hadn't done anything. They were 120 miles away so it wasn't the easiest thing to get it back.

I finally found a donor and then had the replacement rebuilt. Good thing too - the cluster gear was a little ragged.

Now it's all back together and we're getting reacquainted ;-)

Except for one piece I have all the pieces to my under the rear spare tire carrier for my panel sand blasted and laying in the cabinet waiting for POR15.

Been a long hot day...whew, to hot for hot dogs so we settled for some BBQ from Charlies BBq over in Greenville....and of coarse PEPSI, and lots of it.

I've got all the parts needed to finish my bolt. However my wife pulled me down to the Texas Hill Country while my bolt sits in Dallas pining for me.

Installed new rear axle seals and C washers in the stock rear diff and bolted on new new brake lines on my 52 half ton. Starting tearing down and cleaning the wheel cylinders and master cylinder to see if I can save these parts. Hope to have a complete chassis by the end of the weekend....wishfull thinking!

Still don't even have my '46 Shorty Bus here yet but I did send a check off for a Cummins 4BTAA with an Allison 545 tranny attached (want to swap that tranny for a 5 speed). Hoping to tune the little smoker for high mpg. Can't wait to get started!

I got my stuck motor to turn about 1/2 revolution. I think it's stuck on the rusty ring on the cylinder walls.

Pulled off all the brake shoes. Swapped a couple of wheel cylinders. Just have to wait for the shoes to be relined, and she'll be on the road soon after that!

Well one day I will get some pics up but for today I finished removing all of the un-needed brackets in preparation for the M2 front suspension. Next on the list is removal of the steering box/column and scraping of the frame to rid it of all of it's years of grease, grime and dirt then some paint.

Finally got a bracket made for the stock air breather that will use a paper element. I have the W-1 carb - so there is no stud thru the bore. Had to fasten bracket to bottom half of breather and drill a hole thru top half for a wing nut. Then decided to "road test" the rest of the afternoon.
