Does anyone know where I can get exhaust system components so I can put together an exhaust system for my truck? None of the 3 or 4 classic Chevy truck parts catalogs I have has any exhaust parts and my truck currently has zero exhaust system.

Oh, my truck is a 54 3100.

Thanks in advance

Or as most people do, take it to your local muffler shop.

Hi Walt,
If you are looking for dual exhaust, the National Chevy Association sells a kit.

A complete system with Fenton Headers is available from Patricks.
If you want to roll your own, I've found JC Whitney to be the cheapest source of mandrel bends . They carry the Heartthrob line.

I do not know anything about the quality of their parts, but Williams Exhaust sell a complete dual kit for aroun $600, including pipes, mufflers, headers, hangers, and clamps. Maybe some one here has tried them.

Got my original style exhaust for my 56 3200 6 cyl. A friend said he got his from a guy in Hemmings. Only lives 1 hour from me in N. Michigan. He made my exhaust because he was down to his last original set(uses it to check made sets). I went to his garage (pole Building) and he has 100s probably thousands of exhause pipes hanging and on shelves. Many mufflers also. He is very knowledgable and now has a very modern bending machine. $600!!! Holy carp!! Exhaust fab shops around here will do the whole thing, single exhaust for under $200 parts and labor.

Tom, is Martin Johnson the guy that makes the head pipes up with the large sweeping bend at the bottom like the original GM pipes were? Or is his head pipe made like all of the muffler shops make them with a standard tight 4" or 5" radius die?

Denny - I really did not check that. I did see in next to an original. I will take pictures of them and post later.

Looking for the camera right now. Did look at it and I would say there is a combination of small bends as opposed to a large sweeping bend. They are on the work bench area now so I will post pictures when I find the camera.

Well thanks for your trouble Tom. That's not what I'm looking for. I had a buddy that got one from a guy up north some years back that had the correct bend in it.
This is what I'm looking for, can't seem to find anyone with a die with that large of a radius any more or one that is willing to step-bend it to match the original pipe. Looks like another one of those things that I'll have to do my self if that's the way I want it.
Thanks again,

Walt, I didn't catch if you have a single exhaust or headers for dual? I have a 54 3100 and I bought the williams headers and exhaust kit from National Chevy......The headers went on fine, the drivers side pipe went on fine...the passenger side pipe coming off the header did not fit, didn't clear the tranny and the angle was pointed towards the ground not out towards the back end of the truck....Called them and they sent out another piece. Still no go...They said they have had issues with the " TRUCK " exhaust. They have a worker with a 54 and they would mock up a set... I returned the pipes, got a refund and I'm going to a Muffler shop to get them done.
Thanks & Good Luck
