wiring diagrams always show the gauge and color of every wire, and the colors were standardized way before 63, these things don't change, the General said it be so

the wiring diagram in either the shop manual [end of section 12] or the assembly manual [end of section 12] will show where they go and be labeled correctly - I don't know the 60's manuals, maybe they shortened to letters for colors, b = black, br = brown, bl = blue ... on a generator there may be 3 connections, [F]ield (blu) [A]rmature (brn) and [G]round - or there may be 2 brown wires on the A terminal, one to the regulator and one to a horn or headlight relay [so 4 wires]
