Put on new fuel started up run good went for a drive died. check getting lots of fuel. Figured it was float needle sticking. Took apart cleaned up put back on. Start up idles nice give throtle, back fires quits. Ordered new carb from Jim Carter Put on new carb will not even stay running. Need help.

Sounds like you have an electrical problem. Check your ignition wires, something maybe loose. Could also be a weak coil or bad gas.

Alberta is pretty far north for a 228. Do you have an American or a Canadian GMC?
