It's stupid @#$%^ like this that makes you want to give up old trucks and become a landfill tourist guide, or something along those lines. I'ts really a stupid question,as i've built 409's 327's big block ford and chevys and the like. But for the life of me, I dont know what to do with my little sewing machine (235) and its need for an air filter. This goes through the air cleaner & has a wing nut or hex nut on it. If the rod is missing you can get threaded rod at the hardware store & cut it to length. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 291 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 291 | A lot of the 60's carbs did come with the rod. But I am guessing you picked up a earlyer carb with no shaft. Do you got any Photos of the carb. The 50's carbs had clamp on air filters and did not have a stud. austinaubinoe, I love the oil bath as well thats why I kept the oil bath housing. But as you know if oil bath were the best thing they would still be using it. I did not cut mine or any thing and I still have the filter so I can drop in some oil and the old filter any time. | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 45 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 45 | What model paper filter did you use?

..well, maybe but OTOH the filter companies wouldn't get to sell you anything, especially since so many used their old motor oil to fill up the air cleaners. All I know is that they did a good job of keeping the bugs & butterflies out of the carb while letting the air in. I know it worked because I had to clean them as a High School Harry working in the gas stations. Ahh, the good old days. | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 291 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 291 | I used a CA146 Fram filter but you can also us a E1000 K&N if you have the same oil bath filter housing I have. | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 17 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 17 | THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS, BUT ITS NOT HELPING. tHE CARB NUMBERS THE RIGHT ONE, AND I'VE REBUILT IT, HERE'S THE FUN PART,THE CARBS GOT TWO LITTLE HOLES ON EACH SIDE THAT i think SOME KIND OF GIZZIE GOES ON TO TO ATTACH THE STUD AND NOT, YET THE HOLES DON'T LOK BIG ENOUGH FOR SOMETHING TO GO IN.i HAD A '60 cHEVY bISCAYNE THAT HAD A CLAMP ON FILTER-A HUGE THING-AND i THINK THATS WHAT i MAY BE STUCK WITH GETTING, i COULD GO AFTERMARKET, BUT I'M ANAL ABOUT ORIGINALITY, AH WELL. | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 17 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 17 | Thanks GRAMPASTRUCK, it's the second one, I KNEW I'd seen this before, great pic, now all I have ta do is hit the boneyyard, pray, do the hail Mary thing and hope I can find that little dooflinkie. I was going to fab something up, but then I found out the rochester B's are pretty much junk and went with webers | | |
