I myself have done so much research on this same thing. I will share what I have heard and found. 1 pearson I heard put a adapter he made that screwed on like a hose clamp with a stud, But I never saw pics of it. Many people use the one like in the link ill provid below.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chro...tageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Others will use a factory air cleaner like this.

Or like I did for the time being, Remove the filter from your oil bath and stick in a paper element like this.

Here is a link were other folks have rigged stuff to work on there carbs. Just some pics. Form dose not talk to much on filters.

Good luck.

Thanx Grampastruck, this is driving me nuts. It's stupid @#$%^ like this that makes you want to give up old trucks and become a landfill tourist guide, or something along those lines. I'ts really a stupid question,as i've built 409's 327's big block ford and chevys and the like. But for the life of me, I dont know what to do with my little sewing machine (235) and its need for an air filter. HHHHEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!

You should have a bracket across the top of the carb with a threaded stud in the center. This goes through the air cleaner & has a wing nut or hex nut on it. If the rod is missing you can get threaded rod at the hardware store & cut it to length.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

A lot of the 60's carbs did come with the rod. But I am guessing you picked up a earlyer carb with no shaft. Do you got any Photos of the carb. The 50's carbs had clamp on air filters and did not have a stud.

austinaubinoe, I love the oil bath as well thats why I kept the oil bath housing. But as you know if oil bath were the best thing they would still be using it. smile I did not cut mine or any thing and I still have the filter so I can drop in some oil and the old filter any time.

..well, maybe but OTOH the filter companies wouldn't get to sell you anything, especially since so many used their old motor oil to fill up the air cleaners. All I know is that they did a good job of keeping the bugs & butterflies out of the carb while letting the air in. I know it worked because I had to clean them as a High School Harry working in the gas stations. Ahh, the good old days.

I used a CA146 Fram filter but you can also us a E1000 K&N if you have the same oil bath filter housing I have.

Ok, well I have found 2 differant rochester b's. Look at them both and see witch is like yours. I think you maay be missing the bar the stud screws in on the newer style carb. Check it out and let us now. Or post a photo of yours.

unless you have the type that uses the clamp type filter someone sold you a bill of goods just like they did to me, there is a bar with a stud that goes across and is pinned into the carb where those little hole are. I was going to fab something up, but then I found out the rochester B's are pretty much junk and went with webers
