Kept getting worse. Local mechanic told me it was the rear main seal. He replaced it for the SMALL sum of 300 bucks. It still leaked. He worked on it again for 150. It still leaked. Took it to a different mechanic. He replaced the intake manifold rear seal and performed other tasks that I could have done my self. The problem is fixed for a additional 400$ I could have done the job for $4 of silicone my self. Well live and learn

Poor guys like me have to do it ourselves.
I pulled the engine on the '54, replaced the rear main seal and all the gaskets and she still marks her spot. But not like she did. | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 843 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 843 | If it's not too late, consider you butt put upon | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 90 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 90 | Thought these trucks where like old bikes, when they stop leaking oil its time too fill them back up lol

Oil from a rear main seal leak doesn't run uphill! Jerry
