I have a 1952 3100 that I just got and it was advertised as a 53 because of what was on the title. Upon looking at it, it has the hood symbols, etc. of a 1952 model. Is my truck actually considered a 53 or a 52? What should I tell people when asked the year of it? Thanks

I have a '50 chassis with a '51 cab and call it a '50 because my title says '50. But,with your title maybe you can call it a '53 with a '52 body!

Chevy would run out the old models before starting the new models. I had a ’73 that was titled as a ’73 but had the ’72 body style, which was a big difference. It’s a ’53 in the eyes of the law, so I’d call it a ’53. Your ’53 is just a little more rare than the rest of ours as there probably were not that many that crossed over into the new model year. …….

lots of vehicles are in that situation, back then vehicles were titled by the calender year of sale, not by the model year, if it's a 52 model, then that's what it is regardless of what the title says - just need to insure that the ID number on the title matches the number on the truck .... you'll also run across vehicles that are titled as one year earlier then they appear to be because the model year production started late in the previous calender year, so just as some 52's were sold in 53, some 53's were sold in 52

...and some factories ran out of parts that are unique to a model year before other factories did. Things get a little fuzzy towards the end of the model year.

Youngin, I'd say you have a '53. The factory happened to have some leftover '52 parts in the assembly line's parts bins when yours was made.

I agree with both opinions, can be either. Good thing the two years are almost identical, it's just a few labels that are different. Reminds me of the first Mustangs built, in March '64 with 1965 VINs but called 64 1/2.
