Have seen trucks of the same vintage with a fender brace/support in that area that runs up to the top of the fender and I suppose that bolts to the bed.
Anyone have a source for those parts?

The two holes were in fact for rivets.
I've heard many folks who radically lower their trucks remove these braces altogether,fill the holes and run without them.
I'm not sure what effect that would have over the long run.
Chevrolet obviously put them there for a reason.
You could try putting a wanted ad in the swap meet.

Can't find that part listed as a center brace, but the swap meet is a probablility where I could find them.
