In reassembling my cover to my shifter I thought this screw with left handed threads was the correct one... It does not seem to want to thread in... Is this the correct screw or is it a right handed thread ? Screw size is # 10 x 32 ...

Found the screw in the 1929 - 1954 Chevrolet MASTER PARTS and ACCESSORIES CATALOG Sec. 4.018 listed as 54 COMM w/A.T. Screw upper supt control (1/4 - 28 x 5/8) part # 439983

Hydra1/2ton yes it has a needle that shows the range... I am still not sure if it is left or right handed threads... I seem to remember it being left handed threads... I am referring to the this cover ...

I don't think any of the screws were left hand thread. The shift housing is the same as a car with powerglide trans in similar years. The indicator and the detent plate on the column under the hood are the obvious differences.
