Reading my users manual, it says that the trans (4speed with granny gear) can be filled with 90 weight or mineral oil.

But it says not to mix them.

So what do you all use? And where is my filler hole? I can see the drain hole from under the truck, but not the filler hole.

(This is next on the list after refilling the rear axle with new stuff.)

The filler is about 1/2 way up on the right side of the case. I'm personally running an approx. 70/30 mix of Lucas synthetic gear oil/Lucas oil stabilizer. My tranny shifts real slick now.

You ask a good question. In the 15 years of owning mine, I've never changed it. Guess I should get around to it. I'll probably go with a synthetic 90 SAE when I do get to it. I run synthetic in my '98 and it's great since I sometimes get too involved in other things to remember to get oil changed out every 3000.

If it ain't broke, take it apart and figure out why!

I've been running Castrol GP 50 in the original manual tran for about 8 years now , it shifts smoother in winter , no noticable change in summer.
