Looking for the mirror support bracket that is on the inside of the passinger door. I was told that the mirror will shake quit a bit if it is not installed. Are these available anymore? I woukd like to get this door drilled for the mirror. 56 3200. Very closed to getting back on the ground again. Thanks Tom Duffy

Tom - take a look inside the door, you should find the reinforcement pad is already there, as all the TF trucks I've seen have had them .... that plate has the threads the mirror screws into and locates where you drill the holes ..... they're not repro'd anywhere I've seen, but check back if yours actually doesn't have one and someone here can send you one from a scrap door

Bill - There is a plate there that will locate the holes. But I was told that there is a 3 leg support that has the nut on the back that goes between the outer door skin and the inner door skin. There is one in the drivers side door. I was told that it ties the inside and out together. Tom

that reinforcing plate is it, there's nothing shown in the assembly manual like you describe in the drivers door, a PO must have added it - using the regular light truck mirrors you won't have any problem, it's the big truck mirrors with long straight arms that do a lot of dancing around, and that's why there were optional 'west coast' style mirrors offered

Tom - thinking of this triggered some slow brain cells - maybe you have a door that had this accessory mirror installed back in the day .... same deal, not repro'd, never seen one, and I doubt you could even find a used one

Bill - the last drawings were very good. I tried to get a picture of the drivers side and it looks like the bracket in the instruction except it is welded on the inside and does not have the 4 holes. Probably the factory install was welded and the added-on for the passenger side was bolted in. Also just got a call from a guy just north of me , says he has many old doors from 55 56 and thinks he can get a bracket from a scrap door. I will let you know. Thanks again for all the help. Tom

I've got a 66' GMC with some after-market "cheap" mirrors and want to install the
factory type, looks like a triangular type base with three mounting holes. The kits come with mounting screws but I am assuming the screws do not just attach the base to the outer door panel only and was thinking there must be some type of fastening bracket need on the inner part of the panel for the screws to tighten to. Am I thinking correctly and is there an aftermarket bracket for a 66'? Haven't purchased any yet but looking to see what is needed to do it correctly and with a solid point of attachment. Thanks.

@66GMCBurb - I recently put '67-72 style door mirrors on my '51 1 Ton. I wanted a door mounted mirrors instead of cowl mounted. Anyway, I had the same predicament. I just got a couple of fender washers and nuts for the screws to tighten down on. Putting them on was a bugger. Fortunately I have skinny long fingers.

Thanks Dave, might have to do the same thing. Also, would anyone out there
know of a diagram that would show the exact mirror base placement on the door?
I could spot it it from some pictures but I'd like to be exact as possible.
