Ok,
so I got all the weather strip stuff in and started putting stuff together last night.

Vent window - got the weatherstrip and division post seal & felt installed. I can still see some gaps between the rubber and the vent window but I'm hoping that once the assembly is installed, things will tighten up a bit.

Door glass channel - how does this stuff get installed? I know there's a clip at the bottom of the door channel but over near the vent window, what holds it in? Is it supposed to fit inside the division post channel? Is it glued to the upper door frame?

Is the door glass the last thing to go in after everything else is in?

there's a step by step in the shop manual for assembling the door glass, the main piece and the vent go in at the same time .... the division bar has it's own bit of felt in the channel and the single long run goes across the top from the division bar and down the back .... there were originally sheet metal clips that stabbed into the back of that felt channel and wedged across the opening to hold them in, someone just inquired about them with a picture here - not sure they're available repro

and don't be disappointed when you find you haven't "weatherproofed" the truck, the TF doors and glass are notoriously hard to seal

Thanks Bill, yeah, I understand that it will be tough but I'll do the best I can. I ordered the weatherstripping from Steele but the vent window rubber is way too small and the door rubber is too thick! That's the way it goes I guess. The folks at Steele were more than willing to take it back fro credit or replacement though. I'll get the right stuff on order and give it another shot. Saul good, I'm gaining valuable experience with these vent windows and my truck and I are getting well acquainted! LOL

I don't recall if it was Steele that used to have 2 sizes of the door seals, but look at their listings - apparently there were some trucks that had a thinner seal, certain years or certain plants, not sure, but the vent rubber should all be the same - do you mean it's not sealing to the door around the front? I never had that happen

Yes, Steele has two different sizes and I go the wrong one.

As for the vent seals, they're not sealing around the vent window at all. There are gaps.

I ordered a set from Classic parts and it fit perfect. Sealed the vents right up. The ones from Steele didn't even have a shaped molded into them, just a floppy piece of rubber....

the floppy piece would be the cover for the original metal core, not the full seal

hmmm, i'll have to take a picture but they're listed as vent window weatherstriping on the website. Got the lower and upper holes for the vent window pivots and all. Looked like the right part but they weren't 'formed' to the shape at all.

ahh, you mean the long pice that goes around the front, I thought you meant the flat piece against the division bar - I haven't had a problem with that on 3 trucks - pic

yes, sorry about the confusion. The division bar seal (rivetted) was fine, it was the triangular weatherstripping that goes around the frame of the vent window. It was way too thin and didn't provide enough seal. there was about 1/8 inch gap all around. The old ones were actually in better shape!

Got it all sorted out. I guess I should post pictures but every dang time i walk into the garage, I get to work and forget about the pictures!
