BTW, GMC's of that era are ND (New Design) I'd try to find a Jimmy engine if it was me... | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,961 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,961 | Lots of GMCs were repowered with Chev. The Chev is about 1 1/2" shorter. A plate on the front mount will fix that. The rear will require no changes. Many Chevs drop the exhaust out the rear while GMC drops it out the center. However, I agree that you should look for a GMC. Even a 228 will be far superior. A 248 or larger is even nicer. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 639 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 639 | My '53 GMC has a Chevy 216 in it. It had a 235 before that, and if I don't find a Jimmy motor before the swap, it will get another 235.
I would, however, prefer a Jimmy motor. | | |
