has anyone used their old vacuum wiper motor with a newer v8? mine is a 1964 283 and i would like to use the original wiper motor (1953), were is the best place to run the vacuum lines on the new motor? I havent had to much experience with vacuum lines on vehicles so im not sure were it would be safe to tap in. I plan on going with an electric motor when the funds are available but for now i would like to at least have something.

I'd go a head and use manafold vaccum.
A vaccum can/resivore of some sort may help as well.

I've already gone elect. found my vac unit is fine, the motor has major vaccum issues - as in leaking intake gasket.

Nutherwords, my orig vac motor is for sale if anyone needs one.

If the vacuum wiper is working good you don't need an electric with a v-8 engine. You wont be stepping on the accelerator hard enough to drop the vacuum with wet pavement. I drove one a long time like that & it works better then electric. Hook the vacuum line to the carb outlet that has full vacuum.

I'm tinkering with an idea for a vacuum reservoir made of a piece of 3" PVC pipe with caps glued on the ends and a 1-way check valve like a brake booster uses to keep the vacuum from going away when the throttle is opened. Painted black, and tucked away under the cab inside a frame rail channel, it should be virtually invisible to the casual glance.

I drove my 57 10 years with the vacuum wipers and a V8, it worked good I once tryed a vacuum reservoir tank ,about 2 quarts size, it would do one cycle after flooring the truck and after the engine was off,It would, ofcourse, made a difference with larger tank, also need a check valve on the engine side ,BILL

I found a spot to link my wiper motor up to but it still doesn't work, after i pulled it down, i found it was froze up so i pulled it apart and regreased it. It now it moves a lot easier, and it also seems to move a lot farther too. Im going to put it back on the truck this weekend and hopefully it works.

Ive got another question about the wiper, I hooked it up to the vacuum line coming out of the intake, when i pushed the dial one way (closed?) the wiper arm attachment moves slowly until the end of its stroke, then when i move the dial the other way(all the way open?) it snaps quickly until it reaches its full stroke the other way. what would cause this?
