Hey guys,
Has anyone taken their 41-46 hood apart. I know it comes apart at the middle but can the pin that holds the two quarter pieces be taken out? I plan on doing some bodywork this year and I figured since the hood is in the best shape I'd start with it first. I want to learn how to use the hammer and dollies. Thought it might be easier to take the hood completely apart and media blast the hinge and hammer on it like that. Any comments?

My '41 hood is apart right now for body work and painting. The two center pieces slip out from one another lengthwise. The long hinge pins that hold the side pieces on also slide out, leaving the hood in 4 pieces. If the hinge pins are rusty they might be hard to get out, but it does come apart.

Thanks for the info summerfi. How did you get the hinge pins out? Mine are kinda rusty. Sprayed em' with "Blaster". I thought I might try to pull the pin with vise grips. Other than that I don't know how to get them out. Thanks again.

Squirrelbait, that's exactly what I did. Hooked onto the front end of the pin with vice grips and pulled and twisted until they came out. Mine weren't rusty though, and it was slow going, but they eventually came all the way out. Incidentally, you can but 3/16 inch stainless rod that will fit perfectly and will never rust.
