I know the hood is wrong and it needs work but is the price ok?
I'm just looking for a decent little project just needing to know.

Depends on what you want to do with it. You won't find a running truck for much less than that. Check all of the major componenets (ie) clutch, trans., does it run OK? Does it smoke excessively? If everything seems preety good, then I would say go for it! If you want to make it "new" again, be prepared to spend lots of $$$$$$ Otherwise, it will be a lot of fun.

I agree with Kerry, check it out good, but with the amount of rust that is showing, it will have a lot more rust on the underside. Unless you love to do rust repair, I would look for a more solid truck, even if it would cost you a little more money.

That is not a little project, it's a big project. Also, take a look at the roof lip above the windshield. That is also a big problem if it is rusted badly. If you are good at body work and can do your own painting etc., and are willing to invest $$$$, I say go for it. The price is right and there aren't that many '62's around.

yeah i see what yall are saying i went and checked it out. The only big items is what are on the doors rockers and cab corners everywhere else is solid even the top of the cab.

but what is with the hood and what model does it belong to because i know it isn't no viking C10.

I believe it is off a 1960 if it is decent some guys really like them you should not have trouble trading or selling it if it is nice. Kieth

It's a 61 "eyebrow" hood but the same as a 60 just different inserts, a lot of them were traded off for the newer hoods because of rust along the bottom edge especially at the corners next to the fenders on the back. If its pretty clean you'll have no problem trading it off at all.

I agree with the advice offered above, and will add - unless you are looking for a simple little project like having an old truck to haul things to the dumps, I’d say look for something better. Rust is like and iceberg, and if you can easily see what shows, there is probably a lot more. At least confirm for sure before bringing it home. It’s likely the floor and the cab mounts are also rusted out. Rust repair is a tedious and thankless task, and requires either a lot of money, or a lot of free time, welding skills and a passion for being dirty.

On the plus side, those 60-61 hoods can go for over $500 if they are rust and dent free. They were often replaced by owners that preferred the 62-66 version, and once spare parts inventory was exhausted they were superseded by the later design making them rare (in good condition) today. If however it's as rusty as the door and rocker, it will not have any significant value.
