OK anyone out there using a YF carter, for 235, does it have port vac. or manifold vac and if it has manifold vac have you had trouble with the timming being advanced at idle,I put a 4480s on my 235 and she just did not idle right with manifold vac because the timming was fully advanced and do all YF2100s carters have manifold vac.I understand that as soon as I'm off idle that carb would be fine ,but just could not get the idle right .

And if you have any other YF cater what # is it?

Here is a link to the setup I have on my 261.

Carb Pics

The first is a photo from the passenger side of the truck. The vacuum line is the small 1/8" line under the fuel line going to the first carb.

The second pic is a close up of the line going into the carb.

The third pic is what it looks like when you get it. Its the hex head in the shown location.

The YF was used on a lot of engines and they were good carburetors. However, the 4480S is for an engine about 10 years newer than yours. Mixing and matching things is not always good. The initial timing should be set with the vacuum line disconnected and plugged. If it runs good with the initial timing and then doesn't run right with the vacuum hooked up, something is wrong. Either the carb is not matched to the distributor or you have a hole in your vacuum chamber and you are creating a vacuum leak.

The problem is that 235s and the "B" that came with are made to work on port vac. with no vac at the distributor at idle I understand that I made the wrong choice on a YF 4480s its made for the newer 230,260 6s that use manifold vac at the distributor what I'm asking is if the 2100s all have port vac or manifold vac and is there other YF #s that are port vac.?

The Carter YF 2100s does have the ported vacuum that you are looking for. That is what I have for my duel set up right now. I'm over carbed so I have a stumble issue, not horrible but it's there. I'm gathering some W-1's to replace them.
