Used a Toyota 4runner rear heater unit. Had to carefully bend the heatercore ends straight (come bent and was hitting where I have the battery box).
Cut a couple holes in the firewall where the O.E. heater hoses come thru the firewall(can see the oval spot to drill from inside the cab) and mounted the heater sideways. Just barely clears the glovebox box.
It's only 2-speed (had to buy a switch -30a - and fuse holder -25a). Dosen't crank out tons-o-heat being a smaller heater but suuurrre is an improvement over none at all. Has heater control valve already mounted to heater enclosure and can easily be controled by cable (also had to buy).
Plan to find a way to mount defrost hose - maybe heat riser hose from auto parts store.
Less than 50.00 and I now have a wife that dosen't 'shiver' at the idea of taking the truck out in colder weather.

What year 4-Runner? | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 89 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 89 | Sorry won't have ALL the answers as I found somebody selling the unit off Craigslist. He had planned on putting it into his project that got sold. I went and looked at it and decided for what he wanted, I could MAKE it work. Turns out it fell into place pretty well.
So, no idea what year it's from.
I'm planning on pulling the tarps of of the truck this weekend for some other work and will take some pics then. All I'll need to do then is to figure out how to post pics.
I'll get back with ya'll next week. Krash

Just finished the heater control cable yesterday and all that's left is getting some defrost duct parts and plum that into one side of the heater box.
