I have a 49 1-ton pickup with 17" split rims. Does anyone know what the original color was? Terry

Thanks for the info, I thought they should be black. I had a guy tell me the locking outer rim should be silver, Anyone heard of that?

I've seen a lot of lock rings with a galvanized look, maybe cad plate

Just finished painting mine black with silver lock rings. It jazzed it up a bit as all black with the tires too looked sort of plain. But it won't pass muster with the "correct police".

I believe wheel color is addressed in the GM Restoration manual. My 51 1 ton wheels are black with 2 painted stripes.

Regular Production Option (GM)

An item that is ordered by the customer and is installed at the factory.

Accessory (GM)

Are non-factory installed items - they could be ordered from the dealer and installed by the dealer (or by the owner or by others).

Which truck?

1954 Chevrolet Suburban - body color wheels (shown on homepage at link below)

1954 Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup - black wheels (which will be totally covered by wheel covers)

1954/55 GMC 2-ton COE platform bed - red wheels (I think)
