Hello Gentlemen, enclosed are some photos of my ongoing project 1966 C-10 SWB with a 327 and TH700R-4.

I bought it as a runner, and drove it for a couple of years. I then took it off the road to fix "a couple of things". That was 7 years ago... blush

I have a crate engine, overhauled trans, complete Vintage Air kit, complete front and rear suspension overhaul parts, complete brake rebuild parts with front 6 lug disc kit, repro core support, floors, and rockers,as well as miscellaneous parts. Like everyone else, I am searching for decent fenders.

I have had the rear axle overhauled, stripped and painted the rear frame rails and suspension arms, and have installed the rear suspension parts with the shock relocator kit.

Unfortunately, for the past couple of years, I have gone back to school to chase after a few degrees. So, with that and full time work, time is very limited. I chip away at it little by little...

Anyway, here are some photos:

Thanks,

Seth K. Pyle

Where is Blacksburg located? I have a '65 Fleetside and live in Hartsville (near Darlington). Where did you run across the '66 tag?

Hello Leon, Blacksburg is right off I-85, within spitting distance of the NC/SC border.

I found the 1966 SC tag at a swap meet years ago.

I was able to see the photobucket pic and the instrument panel looks great. Give me some details on the gauges (tach and vacuum)you used and how you worked them into the panel. You can send me private email if you wish.

Leon

Hello Leon,

The cluster itself is from a 1965 C-10 with a 283. The tach is a reproduction I bought back in 2003. The vacuum gauge is from a 1967 Chevelle SS. I bought it off ebay in a stock knee-knocker pod from the SS Chevelle. All I had to do to mount the gauge into the 1965 cluster was drill two holes for the mounting screws.

I'm looking for a tach and vacuum gauge to do exactly the same thing as you have done. Yours looks great!

I did this with mine a few weeks ago. I got the vacuum gauge from ebay. Type in "Pontiac Vacuum Gauge" and you will see multiple ones just like Seth's. They look great and they do have functionality.

Thanks for sharing Seth. Looks great!

What size fits the spot in the dash? Is it a 2" or larger diameter?

Leon,
I found one on eBay. You can take it apart and it fits nicely in the left side of the dash. I had to drill two new holes in the cup behind the dash and router out the larger hole in the center of the cup with a dremel because this gauge doesn't line up exactly and the holes have to be lowered. It was a simple procedure.

Good luck.

Nesto426, that is exactly what I had to do to mine. Valk2001, keep searching, there are plenty out there. When I was hunting, it was a matter of how much I wanted to pay. I had been looking at a couple of Pontiac vacuum gauges when I tripped over the SS Chevelle on in the knee-knocker pod. To boot, I ended up reselling just the knee-knocker pod on ebay for nearly what I paid for the whole thing!

One word of advice. Don't try to calibrate the vacuum gauge. I have experience from the military in gauge calibration. So, while testing my vacuum gauge, it was 1" off. In all my infinite wisdom, I tried to adjust it. Yeah...I'd have been better off leaving it alone.
