Hi to everyone
This is my first post after joining Stovebolt several months and after having combed through the huge database of information available here. It is amazing!
But,I have a question about the upholstery color available for a 3100 manufactured in February 1951 which I have been unable to answer.
The previous owner (second before me) swears that the seats are original and I am inclined to agree with him given the condition; horse hair, cotton padding and condition of the vinyl etc.
I am confused however because, I cannot find anywhere any reference to the colors in my truck. All I see is brown and maroon.
Does anyone know if this option was available? I am tryhng to restore the truck as originally as possbile and really love the seats - it looks very similar to '55 Chevy light green that is a classic colour.
I really want to keep the color but, if it is not orinal I guess I will have to with brown (ugh).
Any insights would be more than appreciated.
Many thanks
Peter
PS: Sorry for the ramble. Now that I have my truck (40 years in the waiting) I http://s1130.photobucket.com/albums/m533/peterharbo/ can't help but get excited.
I am going to try and post a few pics so, if you can't see any I failed and will try again ;-)

The padding, etc. would be original, but I would be very surprised if the two toned seat cover was original unless of course if it was an option for Canadian built trucks. The bergundy or brown is the more appropriate stock selection as it appears your door panels.
Overall, you do have a very nice 3100.

Hi Drew
Thank you for the prompt reply although it was not the answer I was hoping for.
The truck was built in Kansas City and bought by a farmer in Pueblo Colorado who loaded it up with every option available. When he passed he left it to his son. So, I was hoping maybe it was original.
I guess maroon it is.
Thanks again
Peter

I think 51 had chrome door handles and knobs and the maroon came in 52. Look at this link. Hope it helps.... and remember ,over the years a lot of changes to door ect may have taken place.

No it's not the original upholstery, that would have been brown, no the Thrift Master logo is in the wrong place and no the horns are incorrect, no the plug wires did not have boots on them and no it was a 216 not a 235 and obvouisly the air cleaner is incorrect.
All that if you want to "restore the truck as originally as possbile". You have an excellent start if you truly want to restore it, much better then most of us have to start with.

Denny missed that interesting art nouveau sculpture used in place of the oil pressure sending tube, as well as the fact that the wiring is near 100% back yard replacement wink I'd say the horns are from the 55-59 era

you can tell the seat is non-original because it doesn't match the door panels, the factory didn't do that sort of thing ... as said, nice place to start if you want original, but I'd just drive'er and smile

Thank you all for your replies.
I knew about the home grown wiring and of course the very nice coil of tubing as well as the air filter.
I didn't know about the horns and didn't notice the decal was in the wrong place until I looked into it.
Switching the engine back may be more than I bargained for.
I may re-think my goal of bringing it back to "original" and as Bill says "just drive'er and smile". I like that.
It is quite a learning curve - great fun!!
Thanks again to all who took the time to reply.
