What is the best paint system for painting wheels? Single stage or 2 stage. I can see advantages to both. What has everyone else have success with?

What paint system will you be using to paint your truck; and, why?

I plan on using a base clear system in original colors but not original color combinations so to speak. (52 and doing a two tone versus a single color)

I think the base/clear combination allows for more depth in the paint. I have a camaro that has a single stage enamel and it does shine but i think that it is not as nice as a base/clear. I think single stages are nice for DIY since i think they are more forgiving.

I think there are advantages and disadvatages to both singe and 2 stage paints. The reason i ask abuot the wheels. I think the wheels are more likely to have more wear than paing on the body. Especially with heat and the people at the tire place mounting the wheels.

Epoxy primer to seal and minimize rust from chips?

Whatever top coat that is easiest for you to spot repair blemishes/chips?

I'd use single-stage two-part urethane top-coat for durability (and the ability to get a good shine from color buffing/polishing). This would be no more complex (but might be more expensive) than top-coating (spot repairing) using a hardener with a single-stage one-part acrylic enamel.

You didn't say what ur colors are.
If it's a solid I'd go with what u want. If it's a metallic color I'd go with B/C for the best result.

I did mention that I was going to use original colors. Lol

How about powder coating ? I'm into Harleys also......I've had many a part including frames powder coated with great success and wear.
They now have tons of colors..

Pc could be an option but was really hoping to have the wheels match the main body color.
