I need to rebuild the rocker arms for my 57 235 and thinking about buying one of those old shaft kits. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,112 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,112 | I bought a set for my 1938 216, on Ebay. I haven't got around to the motor yet but I assume they were something that was made for those old style rockers. | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,339 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,339 | I have a extra set of rocker arms but thinking about ordering a rebuilt set from Chevs of the 40s and be done with it. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,675 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,675 | With the proper setup in a lathe or a milling machine, it would probably be possible to bore the rockers out, press in bushings, and ream or hone them to fit the shafts. "Drilling" would probably ruin them. You'd have more labor time invested than it would be worth to try to save a worn-out part. Those rockers aren't scarce enough to justify heroic rebuilding efforts. Jerry

I had my rockers for my 54 done for about $200 a couple years ago by Chev's of the 40's. I was real happy with the work and my dealings with them. I do know it was a nice job though. | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,339 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,339 | I think Chevs of the 40s is a little over 200 plus a 50 dolar core charge, since I have a extra set I would just send it in with the money. With all the adjusting I have done I still cant get it right so they must be worn out. | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 | $124.00 plus shipping from rockerarms.com in Anderson CA.
