Ok so I am a rookie but just want to know if there are any parts that swap from other 6 cylinders to the 235. From what I can see on the gaskets it doesn't look to good. Distributors? Brackets other stuff?

Nothing is interchangeable between the 235 and the later 194-230-250-292 style engines.

Some 235 owners use the 250 HEI distributers - but not without grinding, etc....

... the valve cover cap should be a straight swap...

timing covers and distributers interchange between gmc engines of the same vintage... example 228, 248, 270 and 302. I think there may be some interchange between the earlier 216 chevy engines as well.

There are plenty of parts that are still available for the 235 including pistons, bearings, camshafts, timing gears, intake manifolds, headears, dress-up items, water pumps, clutches, etc.

Thanks guys for the info, fortunately I am not expecting to need much more than a power steering pump and brackets but wanted to know options for a little "rodding".

There are still after market performance cams available but a stock cam & lifters from a 261 truck motor will interchange. It will increase the Horsepower and still give a good Idle.Of course, the addition of "Dual Exhaust"will not only help in the power section but help in the "Sound" department.
