I was just wondering, How is the compressor mounted on a atandard inline 6. As looking at the Engine from the front the left sides pretty busy with the water pump outlet and bottom hose too the radiator. On the right side you have Room above the electrical generating device be it alternator generator what ever is there. The other thing is does it all run off the same single 3/8's belt obviously longer too catch the new A/c Compressor ?

It doesn't matter which way you are standing, the generator is on the left and the hoses are on the right. Compressors are usually mounted on the left and use a separate pulley and belt.

This is how GMC mounted a compressor on a 302 in 1955. It is on the passenger side of the vehicle, water cooled, pressure oiled and driven by a 7/8" belt. There is a 2 groove pulley on the crank. A separate 7/8" belt drives the fan and Generator.

Thanks cletis thats what I was after.
crenwelge sorry I ment the Air conditioning compressor from Vintage air on a standard 235 I have seen them mounted on V8's but wondered about the straight 6. Though I do find that compressor mounting very interesting as well, Thankyou for posting, as somewhere kicking about, I do have a compressor like that .

FYI any time one refers to a vehicle and is trying to describe left and right, they should describe the item when setting in the drivers seat or call out drivers side or passenger side. This is how I was taught to refer to parts on a truck (PTO drives) Power Take Off applications and I believe it is the way all truck mfgs and mechanics are taught to refer to the location of equipment on a truck.
